CONCENTRATION, DEREGULATION, USES: Adjusting e-payment to tomorrow’s challenges
Breakfast for clients – 22nd June 2006 - Auditorium AtosEuronext Market Solutions - Paris
SEPA, international expansion, cardholder e-payment, affinity card, prepaid card…
The major European and world banks are pursuing their internationalisation process by buying out banks throughout the world: in Eastern Europe, the Maghreb, Africa, Asia... This results in heterogeneous entities, especially as far as e-payment is concerned. New solutions have to be implemented to achieve productivity gains and develop the card product in these countries.
The creation of a harmonised area for European payments as part of the SEPA is also going to change the current situation of card transactions in Europe. Banks are getting ready to take this deregulation into account in order to face the change in interchange and the advent of new competition due to this opening of the market.
New card offers have been introduced to meet the radical transformation of uses: distributor card, gift card, prepaid card… The offer available to cardholders keeps broadening and becomes more and more segmented due to new criteria. Therefore, card management solutions have to adapt. The deployment of co-branding is being prepared.
Thanks to its experience in e-payment and its international dimension, Atos Worldline helps players of the banking field meet these challenges. During a breakfast that will take place on Thursday 22nd June 2006, Atos Worldline will present the various possibilities available to banks.
Agenda:
- Composition of the European e-payment landscape
> Differences in economic models - SEPA: as reality approaches.
- Solution for multi-country e-payment
> Regulatory: Eastern European countries; the Maghreb…
> International products: multilingual, multi-alphabet, multi-currency…
- Testimony: Crédit Agricole S.A. - Outsourcing cardholder management when launching new cards
- Germany: Landesbank Berlin / Microsoft Xbox multi-profile prepaid card

Electronic Business Days - Paperless systems 2006
Atos Worldline participate to the conference about paperless invoicing services, which takes place on 4th April 2006, from 4:45 pm to 5:30 pm.
Paperless systems: replacing paper-based documents with electronic signatures
Although "paperless system" means "no longer producing paper-based documents", a large number of companies still have to systematically create paper-based copies of documents for fiscal or legal reasons. The state, who wants to promote e-administration, has found in electronic signatures an efficient technical way of ensuring the reliability of electronic documents. Like companies, individuals are now allowed to completely dematerialise certain documents -- a process referred to as legal or fiscal dematerialisation -- which must comply with certain legal regulations:
- Formally identifying the parties thanks to an electronic certificate
- Guaranteeing the authenticity of the sent document thanks to an electronic signature
- Keeping the file in a safe place without any possibility to modify it
This initiative gives private sector companies new opportunities that complement EDI and allow them to significantly reduce the costs related to managing paper-based documents.
Atos Worldline will present its work in the field of electronic signature and archiving, as well as its recent achievements in fiscal paperless invoicing in Europe (" Worldline Invoice " solution).

Breakfast for the clients of the Bank & Insurance sector: IP revolution
On 23rd March 2006, Atos Worldline will organize a breakfast-conference on the «IP revolution»: IP acquisition, IP EFTPOS, IPBX, Voice XML, IP IVR service… With more and more merchants and people from the general public getting broadband internet connections, banks have to adapt their business applications in order to take advantage of the improvements brought by these technologies.
The revolution of IP networks is continuing and these networks are going to modify e-money and remote banking to a great extent. IP provides new economic models, modernises the management of credit card payments and optimises the management of contacts between banks and their clients.
To meet these new challenges, the Atos Worldline contributors will put in perspective the various possibilities at their disposal to implement innovative secure solutions. The following subjects will be discussed:
- The change of economic model caused by the use of IP in e-money
- Tomorrow’s EFTPOS (ADSL EFTPOS, GPRS EFTPOS; from EFTPOS to the PC used as a payment terminal)
- The improvements that IP provides for large remitters
- Overview of the IP context in telephony (IP phones in companies, Internet Box, Internet telephony software…)
- How VoIP and ToIP influence and improve customer services (IP IVR service, ACD routing system, IPBX…; IPBX model)
- Towards Voice XML standardisation
This event is similar to the breakfasts organised in 2005, which had generated a lot of interest with customers who had taken part in them.

More than 20 senior executives have taken part in the VIP Forum 2006 in Vienna - 21st March, 2006
On 21.03.2006 the Business Unit Payment Systems Integration VIP Forum 2006 took place in Vienna. With over 20 senior executives from the financial services and commercial sector, and under the skilled chairmanship of Dr Hugo Godschalk, Managing Director of PaySys Consultancy GmbH, various propositions on the market development of the card business were presented and discussed. After the presentation of the Worldline Pay portfolio’s strategic orientation, given by Frédéric Launoy, there was the time and opportunity to get to know each other and exchange views.
In the afternoon, the participants pursued a variety of business models – assembled from the ‘Doctor Fish Aquarium’ - and listened to the extremely interesting guest presentation, given by Dr Heimo Hackel, Director of Visa – Service Kreditkarten AG, on the Austrian market and the positioning with regard to acquiring and issuing.
The feedback from the forum participants was entirely positive. Atos Worldline is viewed as a key player in the market, increasingly setting the standard and positioning itself as an integrator in the European market. An express wish is that the forum be repeated next year, so that together participants can continue to appraise medium and long-term market developments and the associated overall challenges. It was also suggested that the next event be used more intensively for the European dimension and to facilitate contacts at this level. The already established bilateral strategic dialogues are to continue as normal. Any questions regarding the coordination of common themes can be raised as required and their inclusion presented to the participants.
