Belgium launches secured payments by mobile phone
World first: Banksys, BASE, Mobistar, Proximus and the Belgian banks launch a new service for secure payments by mobile phone. This service is accessible to anyone having a Bancontact/Mister Cash bank card and a mobile phone operating on one of the three Belgian mobile telephone networks.

This service relies on the m-banxafe technology developed by Banksys, and guarantees a fully secure payment transaction. Customers wishing to pay by GSM must have a SIM card enabled for m-banxafe technology. Then they activate m-banxafe by choosing a secret code and linking their mobile phone to their bank account.

Once the service is active, the mobile payment operation is fast and simple to perform: 

  • The beneficiary of the payment makes a request on his/her mobile; 
  • The customer receives an SMS, and validates the payment using his/her secret code; 
  • Both customer and merchant then receive a message confirming that the transaction is completed. 

The launch of this new service is a turning point in the development of electronic payments.

Cineworld: new service for the provision of Private Label Membership Fulfilment Services
Cineworld Unlimited allows its 143,000 members to enjoy any film, on any day, at any time, at any Cineworld cinema across the UK & Ireland for a monthly subscription fee.
Atos Worldline has successfully launched a new membership fulfilment service for Cineworld. The service includes application processing, direct debit processing, provision of a Cineworld Support Centre, inbound card member contact services, and outbound card member contact services.
This new business represents Atos Worldline’s significant step forward into the Leisure & Entertainment sector.

French National Geographic Institute: “Géoportail” Internet service
The French National Geographical Institute’s “Géoportail” is the first portal to provide unique access to French geographic information. Atos Worldline has signed a four- year contract with the Institute to develop, enhance, and manage the Géoportail. In addition, the project includes the new graphic charter and the portal’s ergonomics, as well as the overhaul of the institutional website www.ign.fr. Atos Worldline has won this ambitious project in partnership with technical experts from GeoConcept, EEE-i.g.o and Sequoia.

B+S Card Service: extension of service agreement
Atos Worldline and B+S Card Service have extended their long-term partnership in the card business until 2009. From the very beginning of their collaboration in 1998, their contract terms have always been based on essential needs and customer demand. Since then, the two companies have offered services such as acquiring processing and 24/24 Services. In view of the upcoming SEPA implementation, Atos Worldline intends to extend their operations as a Europe-wide independent processing service provider as efficiently as possible. The company has therefore turned to its proven partnerships, such as the one with the Acquirer B+S Card Service.

Of course, expectations will be higher once we extend our business throughout Europe. CNAV: new IVS infrastructure for incoming calls
The Caisse Nationale d’Assurance Vieillesse des Travailleurs Salariés (French national retirement insurance fund for employees) entrusted Atos Worldline with the task of implementing and managing its call services.
The service deployed meets the following objectives defined by CNAVTS:
  • To handle over more than 7 million calls per year;
  • To provide insured people and companies with personalized information in order   to reduce the number of agency visits and to optimize preparations for meetings;
  • To improve the overall management of service at the regional and national levels;
  • To share regional technical and human resources;
  • To respect the autonomy and specific organization of each regional office.

Landesbank Berlin: processing agreement with Atos Worldline is extended
Atos Worldline has extended its contract with Landesbank Berlin AG (LBB) to process for a further five years the German bank’s entire card portfolio, using Atos Worldline’s own card-management system. The portfolio covers 1.7 million active credit and private label cards, including co-branding cards, plus products and extra functionality newly-developed with Atos Worldline. By extending the contract, both partners are continuing their almost 20-year business relationship to carry out innovative joint projects in the future.

Personal Medical Record: acquiring Uni-Médecine strengthens expertise
To meet French Personal Medical Record (PMR) challenge, Atos Worldline and Uni-Médecine, the French leader in designing and producing electronic communications tools for health professionals, pooled their expertise in March 2005 to form the Santeos consortium, one of six IT hosting service providers selected for PMR.
On 14th February 2007, Atos Worldline announced the acquisition of Uni-Médecine, thus strengthening its ability to meet the challenges of exceedingly advanced healthcare organizations that are becoming increasingly concerned with the services provided to people.
