19th September 2007 - Think Tank - Frankfurt
More taste with Chips!
For the second Think Tank of this year, Atos Worldline invites round to the Villa Kennedy in Frankfurt. Together with clients of the business unit “Banking & Finance” we will be dealing with the subject “EMV Chip”. We act on the assumption that intelligent chip management systems provide more reliability as well as better ways of regulation for online and offline transactions, particularly with regard to pan-European processing. By means of practical examples, potential advantages and different options of realization will be illustrated. The insights we gain in the discussions are expected to result in the development of common methods of resolution.
We are looking forward to presentations on the benefits of the arbitrary PIN, exemplified by intelligent PIN handling in other European countries. Thomas Rottenberg, Head of Department Business Development Processing, Atos Worldline Belgium, will illuminate the functioning and added value by the Belgian example.
David Birch, IT Management Consultant and Director of Hyperion, will shed light on the technical aspects of contactless chips and comment on the resulting challenges and benefits for the card market. According to expectations of the US marketing research company Frost & Sullivan, the employment of contactless Smart Cards will open up great capacities of success. Most existent contactless cards which are already in use have been issued in VISA and MasterCard projects. The use of the contactless technology is expected to rise in the next five years from about 17 billion current cards by 63% per year.
